The Opposition
Bolton Wanderers have endured a tough start to the season, struggling to find the back of the net at home, with mounting pressure on manager Ian Evatt following a heavy defeat to Huddersfield last weekend.
Despite bringing in eight new signings over the summer—John McAtee, Chris Forino, Scott Arfield, Jay Matete, Luke Southwood, Szabi Schön, Klaidi Lolos, and Jordi Osei-Tutu—expectations for a promotion push have yet to materialise. Fans were hoping the fresh faces would propel the team forward, but the results so far have been underwhelming.
Bolton supporters are growing increasingly frustrated, with many calling for a more pragmatic approach. The current style of play has delivered just 4 points from a possible 15, and patience is wearing thin. As pressure intensifies, the margin for error continues to shrink, putting Evatt and his squad under significant scrutiny.
HEAD TO HEAD
Saturday's fixture will be the 40th encounter between the two sides in our respective histories.
The last fixture between the teams came in April, when a strong performance from the promotion chasing Trotters made for a difficult afternoon for Reading at the Toughsheet Community Stadium in a 5-2 defeat for the Royals.
The head to head record is as follows:
- Reading wins - 14
- Draws - 10
- Bolton wins - 15
