Loyalty Points Explained
Loyalty Points are used to offer a fair framework for the club to sell tickets for high demand games. Supporters who have attended a high percentage of home and away fixtures over the last four or five campaigns will benefit from priority purchasing for high demand matches.
The system in its current format is designed to ensure fans who have ardently traveled home and away in recent seasons are rewarded for their efforts. Current Season Ticket and Half Season Ticket holders will always receive the highest level of priority for fixtures, and long term loyalty will also be recognised through the Gold, Silver and Bronze legacy statuses.

How It Works
All supporters who purchase a Season Ticket, Half Season Ticket, or a Member Card will be given a Loyalty Points balance, this will grow when you buy tickets to cheer on the Royals at the Select Car Leasing Stadium and on the road at away fixtures.
The total a supporter accrues will be over a set time frame, with points gathered wiped off after a set number of seasons.
Supporters will received the following points when they purchase the related ticketing product:
Product | Points Accrued |
Season Ticket | 255 Loyalty Points |
Half Season Ticket | 115 Loyalty Points |
Home Game | 10 Loyalty Points |
Away Game | 10 Loyalty Points |
Member Card sign up | 5 Loyalty Points |
The more points you acrrue, the better your level of priority for purchasing tickets for high demand fixtures involving the club. This can include fixtures at home, away, or at neutral venues.
Loyalty Points Totals
Loyalty Points totals for the 2024/25 season will include points accrued from the 2019/20 season plus any earned during the current campaign. Any points that had been gathered prior to this point will be wiped off a supporter's total.
This will be the final campaign that five season's points are taken into consideration, this is due to the majority of 2020/21 being played behind closed doors due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
From the start of 2025/26 and beyond, four complete seasons and the current campaign will be taken into allowance when calculating Loyalty Points totals.
Legacy Status
Season Ticket and Half Season Ticket holders will always enjoy the highest levels of priority to games, however Legacy Statuses were introduced to help make the process fairer.
Between 2004 and 2023 the club operated a lifetime Loyalty Points scheme that saw supporters able to accrue points across the 19 years as a whole.
Following feedback with fans groups and supporters, the current process was implemented in the summer of 2023. Despite the change however, the club wanted to ensure that long standing Loyalty Points accrued weren't forgotten when determining a fair policy moving forwards - this is where Legacy Statuses come in.
Instead of wiping all points prior to 2019, the club gave Season Ticket holders, former Season Ticket holders, Member Card holders and non-members a Legacy Status based on the points they built up before the change. This was implemented as follows:
- Bronze Legacy Status – 25-499 points
- Silver Legacy Status - 500-1499 points
- Gold Legacy Status - 1500+ points
The status was marked against their account on the ticketing system. Your Legacy Status will never be updated going forward, it is purely a set status to recognise fans’ historic support in lieu of the 15 years of expired points which will no longer form part of the count.
Example Selling Criteria
Below is an example selling criteria that was used for a high demand away fixture in the 2023/24 campaign:
On Sale Date | Points and Status required |
10am Day 1 | Season Ticket holders with 1,500+ Loyalty Points |
2pm Day 1 | Season Ticket holders with 1,350+ Loyalty Points |
10am Day 2 | Season Ticket holders with 1,000+ Loyalty Points |
2pm Day 2 | Season Ticket holders with 500+ Loyalty Points |
10am Day 3 | All Season Ticket holders |
2pm Day 3 | Members with 1000+ Loyalty Points or Gold Legacy |
10am Day 4 | Members with 500+ Loyalty Points or Silver Legacy |
2pm Day 4 | Members with 100 Loyalty Points |
10am Day 5 | Members with 25+ Loyalty Points or Bronze Legacy |
2pm Day 5 | General Sale |
Please note, the example above is purely for illustrative purposes and should not be considered as final for any future fixtures.
Case Studies
Using the above selling criteria, please find below some case study examples of how a supporter in different situations would benefit from priority at high demand fixtures;
Kingsley Royal
Kingsley Royal lives and breathes Reading Football Club!
He has supported the club for decades and goes home and away to every fixture he can make. He has bought his Season Ticket for 2024/25 and has 1,871 Loyalty points.
Due to his loyalty, Kingsley will be able to buy at 10am on Day 1, the very top level of priority.
Steve Coppell
Steve used to spend a lot of time watching the Royals between 2003 and 2009 - he lived and breathed this club!
His situation has changed in recent years as he cannot attend as many games as he used to, but he has noticed he can attend an upcoming fixture and would like to buy a ticket.
He has only been to a handful of games in the past five seasons, but his unwaivering support for the club in the noughties means he has a lasting Gold Legacy status with the club.
He will therefore be able to buy his ticket in the sixth priority group at 2pm on Day 3.
Princely Royal
Princely Royal is new to supporting Reading, and hasn't been to a match yet due to his young age.
He wants to start coming to games and accruing Loyalty Points, so that when the big games come around he is in a good position to be able to buy tickets before they sell out.
He has bought his Member Card and benefited from his opening five Loyalty Points. On this occasion he will be in the lowest priority group for the game, this is General Sale. He does know however that if he starts going to more games, his Loyalty Points total will get higher and it will be easier in future matches to secure tickets.
