Championship winner joins the Royals on short-term loan
Everyone at Reading would like to extend their welcome to Jesse Woolley who joins us on loan from WSL side Bristol city for the rest of our 2023/2024 campaign.
The exciting forward becomes the first singing of 2024 as Liam Gilbert looks to utilize the January window to help bolster his attacking options for the rest of our Barclays Women’s Championship season.

Woolley, a familiar face in Championship football, played a crucial role in Bristol City's title-winning campaign last season, featuring in 20 matches for the league champions. A product of Bristol City's academy since the age of seven, Woolley seamlessly transitioned into the senior squad, showcasing her prowess on the pitch.
The Robins' forward made an impact early in the title-winning season, scoring the decisive goal against Coventry United in August 2022, earning her the Championship Player of the Month award. Woolley's football journey also includes representing England at the Under-17 and Under-18 levels, contributing with goals for both age groups.

"I'm a very forward thinking player, looking to bring the goals and do my very best for this club."
Expressing her aspirations with the Royals, Jesse shared, “I would like to become a better player, focusing on the areas I need to work on, and also contribute to the team's success. I'm a direct and forward-thinking player who values defensive duties. I'll do my very best for you guys and hopefully contribute with a few goals.”
Liam Gilbert, delighted with the new signing, emphasized Woolley's commitment to the team's identity, stating, “She reflects the identity we want to build as a club – the ability to go forward, take on players, and be direct. It's a rare trait, coupled with her hard work and defensive resilience. These are areas we've been working on to enhance our team's identity.”
Everyone at Reading FC Women extends a warm welcome to Jesse Woolley at RG2. We eagerly anticipate watching her don the blue and white hoops, bringing her skills and determination to the team for the rest of the season!
