A first interview with our defender after Saturday's win

Reading's Amadou Mbengue gave his first interview in English off the back of Saturday's thoroughly deserved victory over Charlton Athletic.

The fan favourite spoke about his positve relationship with his admirers in the stand, how he has developed his long throws, and how his team will continue the hard work to maintain the good form they are in.

His full thoughts can be found below:

"It’s amazing! It’s amazing to win and at home it is important to get the three points and we enjoyed it with the fans and our team mates, it’s amazing!

As team mates we talk together and have very good fusion and it’s working. We’re working hard in training and we deserve it (the good form).

The long throws we do in training when we also work on our free kicks. The Gaffer gave me a new technique for the throw in to go further and it’s worked in two games, so we’ll keep doing it and we keep working hard.

It doesn’t change because I have played centre back before I came here. This season I have played a lot at right back and now I’m happy to play centre back again.

Winning is very important and it builds our confidence as we keep going. We know it’s not going to be easy because it’s a couple of tough games, but it’s our job and we’ll look to keep doing it.

(The bond with supporters) Is important and it’s really amazing because I love this team and I love the fans. The fans have never let us down even in the difficult moments, they are here at home, they are at the away games and they never let us down. I think it’s really important to make them happy and to enjoy it – so we do it!

I say to the fans, come to support us! We’re going to make them happy and enjoy it, we’ll keep this team up because we love this team! We will do it!"
