Bindon embraces the festive season and focus on the challenges ahead

With Christmas just around the corner, Royals defender Tyler Bindon shared his thoughts on the holiday season and the busy schedule that comes with it.

For Bindon, this time of year holds a special place in his heart, not just for the football but also for the family traditions that make it so meaningful.

Speaking ahead of Reading’s festive fixtures, Bindon reflected on the balance between the joy of the season and the demands of the game, while highlighting the camaraderie within the squad and his admiration for manager Noel Hunt.

“Christmas is always my favourite time of the year.

I have a really good relationship with my Nanna in New Zealand. Me and her always celebrate Christmas together, and the whole family over there, so it makes this time of year extra special. I’m also glad I have my parents here that I can still spend it with them.

The fixtures are nice [over Christmas], we get to stay home, so it means all the boys can spend time with their families which is really important on Christmas Day.

Sometimes traveling up the day before and staying overnight is hard, because all you want to do is spend time with those closest to you. So this year, we’ve been lucky.

We have a good group of guys here, so everyone knows their role and everyone has the ability to adapt when something happens.

I feel for Amadou, because the injury probably wasn’t his fault, in what happened so hopefully he recovers soon. But at the end of the day, injuries happen, so I have full faith that whoever steps into that role will do the job, and I’ll happily play alongside them.

I think it’s a testament to the young guys. They’re playing a lot of first-team football at their age, it’s really impressive and you have to give them a lot of credit for that.

But at the end of the day they're here for a reason, they're here so you have to get on with it. And for me just to play with them, they support me, I support them. That's how the back four always works, so it was good.

Noel coming in, I think he's a great person, I really like him, I have had a good relationship with him in the past and I think hopefully this team can do well under him.

I think what Noel's done building up with the 21s, he's a club legend so it's quite cool to be able to work under him and experience the different attributes of coaching that he possesses.

For me, I just enjoy playing. I don't really think about all that stuff too much. I just take it game by game. So for me to be here right now, it's really cool. And I don't take it for granted."
