A point on the road in Buckingshire.

Noel Hunt's reign started with a point away against the league leaders as Knibbs' goal cancelled out Lubala's strike.

The Royals got the game underway at a blustery Adams Park, with the boys kicking away from the travelling Reading fans in the first half. Both sides entered this game is strong form, with The Royals unbeaten in their last three away games.

The game started evenly (if a little scrappy), as both sides struggled to find their rhythm in the difficult conditions. The first opening of the game came on 11 minutes as skipper Lewis Wing intercepted high up the pitch and drove towards the Wycombe goal, electing to shoot but was deflected narrowly wide.

From the resulting corner, the Royals maintained pressure with a couple of openings but neither Campbell or Knibbs could squeeze strikes through the wall of Wycombe defenders.

Despite Reading edging the opening moments, the home side broke the deadlock on 18 minutes as a low cross from the left was turned home by Beryly Lubala.

Further pressure ensued from the hosts for the following 10 minutes but The Royals stood firm, notably Amadou Mbengue forcing a dangerous cross out for a corner.

Shortly later, on 29 minutes, The Royals were back on level terms as a long ball forward by Mbengue evaded the Wycombe defence. Sam Smith was first to the ball and strike at goal, forcing a good save from goalkeeper, Ravizzioli, but Harvey Knibbs was first to the loose ball and slid the ball home. 1-1

With parity restored, both sides wrestled for dominance. Charlie Savage tested Ravizzioli from distance but the goalkeeper managed to gather at the second attempt.

The remainder of the half carried on evenly contested and despite a late scramble in the Reading box, the referee blew for half-time with the scores level.

Wycombe started the second half underway, with The Royals now shooting with the wind, towards our own supporters who were in fine voice.

The hosts came quickly out the box for the second half, with the Royals forced to defend numerous attacks. Most notably a long ball over the top finding Udoh, who skipped around Pereira but Tyler Bindon threw his body on the line to save a certain goal.

On 64 minutes The Royals found their first opening of the half. Sam Smith latched on to a knock down by Harvey Knibbs, beating the Wycombe goalkeeper to the ball before falling. Despite various claims of a penalty, the referee waved away and proceeded to issue Smith a yellow card.

A series of Wycombe attacks followed but the closest opportunity came Reading’s way, as Ben Elliott jinked past a defender and unleashed a low left-footed shot which was tipped round the post by Ravizzioli.

Shortly after, a similar turn of events followed however this time Elliott was fouled just before striking, presenting Reading with a free kick narrowly outside the box. Lewis Wing stepped up, striking the ball keepers side of the wall but the Wycombe keeper gathered with ease.

Both teams were battling the conditions. On 87 minutes former Royal, Garath McCleary, forced a strong effort towards the top corner but Pereira was equal to it and pushed it round for a corner which was well defended.

With 5 minutes of additional time allocated, both teams proved for a winner however none was forthcoming.
