Returning midfielder discusses a tough afternoon

One of the few positives from Saturday's trip to Blackpool was the return of Lewis Wing from injury.

Despite being disappointed with the circumstances of his comeback, the summer signing is glad to be back and contributing to the team.

He said: "It's been a long time coming. I think I feel I've been here forever and I just haven't really been able to show myself properly, but hopefully this is the start of my season, the start of our season.

"Unfortunately, in this industry we're in, these things happen. But hopefully this is it now and I can kick on.

"Not being able to help is awful. You just want to get on there and help the lads as much as possible.

"Obviously it was a disappointing day, and hopefully we can go again next week, iron a few things out and put things right.

"I feel as I'm ready, but obviously, you can only tell with more games under your belt so hopefully over the next couple of weeks I can get that.

"We're just trying to concentrate on football. It has been pretty difficult. It's been up and down, but hopefully we can start to put things right and put a plan in place where we can kick on now.

"We need to put in performances and pick up three points and then hopefully the rest of will start itself out."

Despite only being 28, Wing finds himself as one of the senior players in the group, something which he is relishing.

He continued: "It's a new role for me. I like it but at the end of the day it doesn't matter what your age is, if you're good enough to play, you're good enough to play.

"We're all in it together. We'll stick by each other, through the tough times and the good times.

"You forget how young they are. With football you just gel together and you forget the age gap, it's been fantastic to work with them all.

"They are only going to get better as well. They are great bunch of lads, so if we as the more experience lads can help them as much as we can, we will do and hopefully mould them into better players.

"It is a lot for them to take in, but I was saying to the gaffer I'm learning things now that I've never learned before.

"We're all learning and it is going to click and you're seeing glimpses of that but the consistency is definitely going to come. You have just got to stick by us and the results will come.

"For the fans, it's difficult because the fans want results straight away and you have to be patient - it will work.

"I'm a firm believer that it will work, so as long as we all stick together as a football club, I think we'll be just fine.

"It's a totally different ball game playing away. The young lads have never experienced away days like this. It's just a totally, totally different experience to playing at home.

"I can't put my finger on what we're not doing as well away but time will tell and we'll get better from it."
