Caitlin Smith's footballing journey started at Southampton, where she began honing her skills from the age of 16. Her promising talent soon caught the eye of Chelsea, and at just 18, she made the move to one of England's top clubs.

Smith decided to explore football across the Atlantic, attending Clemson University in the United States, where she pursued a degree in Sport Communication whilst also representing Clemson Tigers.

Her time in America has played a significant role in her development, as she reflects on her experience in the U.S., Smith said, "Playing and studying in America has really helped me in my career, the main thing I noticed playing out there is the different styles of play. They take a more physical approach to the game, which, as a defender, is very important."

Now, Caitlin Smith is back in her home country, England, and she is eager to showcase her skills with Reading FC Women.

Upon completing the deal to join the Royals, she expressed her enthusiasm, saying, "I am excited to play in a league where my technical abilities will be tested more. I hope I can develop my technical ability during my time at Reading."

Smith describes herself as a centre back who always gives 100% on the field. She enjoys being on the ball, exhibiting composure and the ability to play out into the middle and wide positions to help drive out of defence. Aerial battles are another strong suit in her game, as she prides herself on her physicality in challenges.

Already engaging with the manager, Smith shares the team's ambitions. "Our goal is to get promoted back into the Super League," she reveals. "I just want to be the best teammate I can be for the girls and keep pushing myself to try and break into that first team."
