Pompey have enjoyed an emphatic start to their 2023/2024 campaign under John Mousinho, gaining 32 points out of a possible 42.
The youngest manager in the league decided to hang up his boots after taking on a player/coach role at Oxford United before eventually joining Portsmouth in January 2023. Since then Mousinho took his side on an 11 game win streak securing them in 8th positon for the 2022/2023 season.
Portsmouth picked where they left off from last season as they remain unbeaten so far this season, making it 25 games since they last lost a league match.
Reading FC U21
Reading’s U21 men’s team face Blackburn Rovers at The EBB stadium in Aldershot as they hope to close the gap at the top of the PL2 Division 1 table with a win on Monday. Noel Hunt’s side will be looking to bounce back from last week’s away league trip to Southampton and return to winning ways.

Blackburn will be hoping to build upon their midweek victory which took place in the middle of the month against their Premier League International Cup opponents Nice. The French side equalized late but a 90+5 minute own goal secured the 2-1 victory for Blackburn.
Some rocky form since the season began has Blackburn currently sitting 23rd in the PL2 table on just four points having won once and drawn once, losing the other four games.
Their win against their European opponents Nice will be the foundations of which Blackburn will hope to build from to see them climb up the table whilst a win for Reading in this fixture will help them stay within touching distance of those at the top of the table.
Reading FC U18
Reading men’s U18s welcome Brighton & Hove Albion in Saturday’s English U18s Premier League clash as Mikele Leigertwood’s side look to build momentum from last weekend’s 5-3 victory over Southampton.
The U18s side also have a fixture under the lights awaiting for them on Tuesday, October 31st as they have their rescheduled date for their FA Youth-Cup tie against Oxford United which kicks off at 7pm at The RAW Charging Stadium.
This fixture sees the Royals U18s embark on their first game of the FA Youth-Cup as they hope to put together a cup run in this year’s tournament. Their opponents, Oxford United have already beaten Swindon Supermarine and Street to progress further in the competition.
Due to Oxford United’s senior side playing in the National League they entered the FA Youth-Cup in the second round of qualifying and with Reading’s first team playing in League One it means our Royals U18s enter the competition in the first round.
