The chance to watch all 11 goals and to hear from brace scorer Charlie Wellens, as well as managers Noel Hunt, Mikele Leigertwood!

Two games, two big wins for our U21s and U18s in the past week!

Things got off to a flying start on Monday down at Aldershot Town's EBB Stadium, seeing Blackburn Rovers U21s off with a resounding 7-2 scoreline.

There were minutes for Joel Pereira, Matty Carson, Tom Holmes, Jeriel Dorsett, Tivonge Rushesha and Caylan Vickers, with three of them managing to find the back of the net.

6 different scorers contributed to the dominant display, and you can watch the highlights, here:

The victory saw the side move up to fifth in the PL2 table, having won five of our opening seven fixtures!

Up next is a league and cup double header against West Brom, as we travel to Keys Park for league action on Monday night, before returning to Aldershot for a crucial PL Cup tie against the Baggies just a week later.

A delighted Noel Hunt gave his reaction at full time:

The resounding victory was started and ended by summer signing Charlie Wellens, who scored his first goals in blue and white since arriving from Manchester United.

The performance, which also included an asisst for the second from Adrian Akande, has also earned him a nomination for PL2 Player of the month for October.

He reflected on the performance, and his time at the club so far, after the full time whistle:

And the action (and the goals) from the academy didn't stop there!

Tuesday night was the turn of our Under-18s, who travelled to the RAW Charging Stadium to take on Oxford City in the first round proper of the FA Youth Cup.

Goals from Shay Spencer, Kiyan Coke Miles Smith, Emmanuel Osho and Joe Barough, were enough to comfortably see the Royals through into the second round of the competition.

That fixture also gave us our first chance of the season to catch up with their manager, Mikele Leigertwood.

Currently sitting 10th, out of 13 teams, in the southern section of the U18 Premier League, Ledge's side have won two of their opening seven fixtures, drawing once and falling to defeat in the other four.

However, highlights have included a 2-2 draw at home to Arsenal, as well as an action packed 5-3 win over Southampton, which featured a hat-trick from Joe Barough, just a fortnight ago.

Whilst their Premier League Cup group is evenly poised, as all four teams sit on three points apiece, only goal difference to separate them. A must-win game will be played away at Wolves at midday on Saturday 25th November to determine who will progress from Group F.

Tuesday night's win means the young team have now won three games on the bounce in all competitions.

In an extended interview, he reflects on the victory, the season so far, working with a young squad, Taylan Harris' first team callup and the targets he's set the group for the rest of the calendar year!
