What a couple of days for our Academy!
On Monday evening, our Under-21 side put seven past Blackburn Rovers in Aldershot… a 7-2 win which sent Noel Hunt’s side to fourth in the Premier League 2 table!
And on Tuesday, an FA Youth Cup tie at Oxford City, with a place in Round 2 at stake for Mikele Leigertwood’s Under-18s. And, again, a big performance under the floodlights and a result to match.
We led from the fourth minute; Shay Spencer opened the scoring, and Kiyan Coke-Miles-Smith and Emmanuel Osho each grabbed goals before the break. Joseph Barough netted our fourth, and Ryan Sheppard offered one in reply midway through the second half for the hosts.
But a 4-1 win sees us into the second round. A majority of Round 1 fixtures will be played on or before this coming Saturday, and the draw for the next stage follows in due course.
