The Royals have been drawn away to Millwall in the First Round of the Carabao Cup.

Reading were ball no.27 in the southern section of the regionalised draw this afternoon and Danny Cowley plucked us out after Michael Dawson had drawn the Lions at home.

The two teams met twice in the league last season and on both occasions one goal proved the difference. Naby Sarr's header secured victory for the Royals on the road in August, but Andreas Vogelsammer scored from the spot when we locked horns at the Select Car Leasing Stadium in March to earn Millwall all three points.

We last met Millwall in the League Cup six years ago when we hosted the Lions in RG2. That evening, Reading ran out winners in extra time; Leandro Bacuna's opener had been cancelled out by Shane Ferguson in the first half, before goals from George Evans and Sam Smith put our name in the hat with a 3-1 triumph.

The tie is set to be played on the evening of Tuesday 8 August. Ticket details will be confirmed in due course.
