New pathway announced for young talent

As the start of the 2023/24 season approaches, Reading FC Women is undergoing exciting changes to its Youth Pathway.

After the announcement of the FA’s new pathway, the club have adapted it’s pathway to support the development and growth of young players to meet the demands of the women’s professional game.

At its core, Reading FC Women have always been very proud of their youth talent pathways, developing players for the first team from the likes of Grace Moloney, Emma Harries and Tia Primmer to name a few.

From the 23/24 season, Reading FC Women will now be introducing a Category 2 U16’s Professional Game Academy (PGA), whilst also maintaining and continuing their Under 14s side, Under 21 Academy and Emerging Talent Centre programme.

With all these pathways, the overarching aim is to increase the quality of players that meet the demand of the womens professional game, and further support the progression of young talent to an elite level.
