Reading FC Women are delighted to announce the signing of Mayi Kith on a permanent deal till the end of 2023/24.

The 25-year-old Canadian born defender joins from Swedish side Kristianstads DFF, having previously represented the likes of Dynamo de Quebec, Montpellier, Metz and Reims.

Quebec-born, Maya Kith represented Canada at the 2013 CONCACAF Women’s U-17 Championship and the 2014 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. Being a daughter of Cameroonians, she later made the switch to represent Cameroon, and represented the women’s national team at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Mayi Kith began her affection for football when she was seven years old, representing AS Beauport, as she aspired to follow in the footsteps of her favourite player Zinedine Zidane.

Having made just shy of 100 appearances in college, appearing for West Virginia University, before making the move into Europe.

French side Montpellier was her first destination, signing ahead of the 2018/19 season, yet made just two appearances before making the move to the Northern France to join Metz, where playing time was against limited to just four caps.

Ahead of the 2020/21 season, Stade de Reims snapped up the chance to sign Mayi Kith, where she was soon integrated into the first team featuring in every match from the beginning, appearing 35 times over a two-year spell.

With ambitions to try somewhere new, Swedish side Kristianstads DFF is where she joined in the summer of 2022, and featured nine times, starting seven.

On the signing, Kelly Chambers said, "We're delighted to welcome Easther to the club, who will provide us with another option in defence. She is someone who can hit the ground running straight away for the second half of the season, as well a long term. I'm really looking forward to working with her."
