Royals attacker on Stoke result, responding to defeat and injury comeback

Femi Azeez talks about the disappointment of losing 4-0 away to Stoke City and how the team is looking to take the lessons from today into the upcoming games.

"We're very disappointed," Azeez said. "We haven't travelled all this way to get hammered 4-0.

"It's going to leave a sour taste in our mouths. But we have to move on, that's football. We'll work on it from Monday and go from there. We'll take this as a lesson and we'll go again.

"We have to analyse where it went wrong and try and build on that and cut out those mistakes in the next game. We have to make sure we don't create a habit out of that. Because then it's a downward spiral and that's the last thing we want.

"We need to keep good momentum and not to make a habit out of it because it's not good for anyone."

Azeez, who recently scored a hat-trick in an Under-21s friendly against Aldershot, says that he personally is feeling good following a lengthy spell on the sidelines - his sub appearance in the Potteries was just his second league appearance since April.

That's added to one FA Cup appearance - the win at home against Watford, which has teed up next week's trip to Old Trafford.

"Coming back from injury has been a tough 18 months but I've learnt many lessons along the way - what to do, what not to do," he continued.

"Touch wood, I've finally cracked the code to keeping fit. Hopefully I get to build on this now with more minutes, more games and try to help the team.

"I'm raring to go - I've been raring to go for months. But it's about biding your time and being patient. I hope my patience will pay off soon.

"Next week's game against Manchester United is massive. We haven't been thinking about it yet because we take it game-by-game but now we have a week to prepare and obviously it's a big occasion. We all know it's a big match. Hopefully we can perform as best as we can."
