Point earned in Lincolnshire

Reading came from a goal down to earn a well-deserved point away at Lincoln City thanks to Harvey Knibbs' second-half equaliser.

The forward cooly finished from Jeriel Dorsett's excellent through ball soon after half-time to draw the Royals level.

Lincoln had taken the lead just three minutes in after Nelson Abbey could only turn Ted Bishop's cross into his own net.

Under the December sunshine in Lincolnshire, with both the castle and the cathedral looking on, Rubén Sellés opted for just one change.

Paul Mukairu replaced Caylan Vickers, with the line-up and bench otherwise as there were for the draw midweek against Oxford United.

The hosts looked to start the game on the front foot, and quickly earned their reward as the first chance of the game saw Lincoln take the lead.

Bishop received the ball in space to the right of the area, driving into the box and firing a low cross into the six-yard area, which Abbey could only turn into his own net.

The Royals looked to bounce back immediately with Paul Mukairu cutting inside and releasing a curling effort, but Jensen was able to claim.

A free-kick was then won in a dangerous position on the edge of the box, with Lewis Wing stepping up, but his shot went just wide of the post.

Reading thought they had equalised when the ball was bundled into the back of the net by Imps defender Lasse Sorenson following a threating Femi Azeez cross.

However, Sorenson was adjudged by the referee to have been fouled by Mukairu as he directed the ball past Jensen, resulting in the goal being disallowed.

Mukairu would be involved again as the Royals had a second equaliser ruled out, this time for offside.

A free-kick from the right was cleared into the path of Andy Yiadom on the edge of the box, with the skipper firing off a shot which was eventually stroked home by the Nigerian winger following some pinball, only for the flag to be raised.

The Royals kept pushing as the half wore on, with a nice through ball finding Sam Smith down the right, but his cross could only be diverted into Jenson’s grasp by the head of Harvey Knibbs.

Despite Reading looking positive, and creating the better chances going behind, it was the hosts who took the lead into the half-time break.

Reading continued to look the more positive side when play resumed, and would soon find their deserved equalising goal.

Some persistent pressing in the middle of the park saw the ball pop out to Jeriel Dorsett, with the Montserrat international playing a perfectly-weighted forwards towards Knibbs.

The forward let the ball run across his body whilst shaping for his shot, and released a curling first-time effort inside the area which gave Jensen no chance, and brought the Royals level.

With the scores level, the Royals were shown a straight red card, but not for a player, with manager Rubén Sellés sent off for kicking the ball away.

With three points up for grabs, neither side were able to create the necessary chance to come away from all three points.

Knibbs went closest to finding a winner, letting the ball run across his body to similar to his goal and taking aim, but a deflection saw it sit up nicely for Jensen.

The full-time whistle signalled a point in the right direction, with the Royals the better side on the day.
