Wins over Oxford City and Forrest Green Rovers earnt the Royals U-18s a spot in the third round of the FA Youth Cup as they welcome Rotherham United to RG2 on this midweek clash.

It was late drama that booked Reading’s place into the next round of this competition as they had to dig deep against Forrest Green Rovers to win the game in extra time, thankfully preventing the game from going to a penalty shootout.

An away tie awaits the winner of this fixture with the fourth round opponent to either be Sheffield Wednesday or Hemel Hempstead Town. Due to Rotherham’s senior team residing in the Championship the U-18s were granted immediate access into this stage of the Youth Cup.

Rubén Sellés' side make the trip up to Lincoln on Saturday afternoon as they look to build upon their hard fought point from derby day on Tuesday night as the points were shared with rivals Oxford United.

Lincoln City currently sit in 9th place on 31 points, half of what they amassed last season in which they finished 11th place. With the Imps looking to maintain a top half finish once again Michael Skubala’s side will be looking to claim all three points on Saturday to help them climb further up the table and potentially push on for a spot in the play offs.

Saturday’s fixture marks the first competitive meeting between Lincoln City and Reading in over 20 years. You would have to go as far back as 1999 for the last time in which the two teams met in a competitive setting in which the game finished all even at 2-2.

A brilliant return from the international break from Liam Gilbert’s side saw them win both of their cup games as they began their FA Cup journey with a 4-0 win away at Cheltenham Town earning them a draw against either Hull City or Wolverhampton in the fourth round. Wednesday night saw Reading take WSL side Bristol City to penalties after a late equalizer from Wellings in which the Royals won 4-3 in a dramatic shootout for this Conti Cup tie.

Having won two out of the three games in December the Royals will be looking to make it three from three as they welcome Crystal Palace to RG2 on Sunday afternoon in a Championship clash that is sure to be a cracker before the Christmas break.

Reading opened their 2023/2024 campaign with a trip to Crystal Palace in which a late Palace equalizer stole the three points from Reading and salvaged a point for the home side seeing the game finish 1-1. This Sunday’s game shall be the Royals’ last fixture of 2023 as they look to enter the New Year with three wins from three from the festive period.

Noel Hunt’s side welcome Middlesborough to Aldershot on Monday night as they prepare for a cold night under the lights in this PL2 Division 1 clash.

Due to the Blackburn Rovers game being postponed last weekend this fixture will be the first in two weeks for the Under-21 side as they look to rebuild from their 5-1 loss to Derby County at the start of the month.

Just a point separates the two sides entering this fixture meaning a win for the Royals would see them leapfrog their opponents in the league and keep Reading within touching distance of runaway leaders Tottenham Hotspur.

16th December 2015 Reading 3-2 Middlesborough
10th August 2015 Middlesborough 1-1 Reading
