Goalkeeper comes in for only change from Peterborough
David Button will make his Reading debut away at Port Vale as Rubén Sellés makes one change from the league opener against Peterborough.
The experienced goalkeeper signed a two-year deal with the Royals last week, coming in to replace Dean Bouzanis in the only change from last Saturday's defeat.
Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan, fresh off the back of his brace midweek in the dominant 4-0 win over Millwall, will lead the line alongside Andy Carroll.
Harvey Knibbs is the only other player who keeps their place from Tuesday's starting line-up, with younger players Coniah Boyce-Clarke, Tyler Bindon, Matty Carson, Mamadi Carson and Caylan Vickers's impressive performances rewarded with a place on the bench.
Charlie Savage scored his first Reading goal in the cup victory, and will partner Sam Hutchinson in midfield. Femi Azeez makes up the midfield four, with Nesta Guinness-Walker and skipper Andy Yiadom occupying the full-back positions.
Tom McIntyre and Tom Holmes will resume their partnership in the centre of defence, with Harlee Dean offering experience from the bench.
The former Brentford captain made his debut against Millwall, and could be in-line for a first league appearance for the Royals.
Lewis Wing, who made his first start on Tuesday, rounds out the substitutes.
