Swansea (H), Norwich (A) and WBA (A) all rearranged

Reading’s home fixture against Swansea City – originally scheduled for Boxing Day 2022 – has been selected for Sky Sports coverage, and as such has been pushed back to the following day. And by consequence, in a hectic festive schedule, the following two fixtures at Norwich City and West Bromwich Albion will both also kick off a day later.

Below is a full account of the changes to the three festive encounters…

Our home game against Swansea City will now take place on Tuesday 27 December 2022 (kick-off 5.15pm) and will be broadcast live on Sky Sports.

We’ve had some high-scoring fixtures against the Swans in recent seasons… no less our 4-4 home draw last year, as Tom McIntyre grabbed a 95th-minute leveller on Easter Monday!

And now the Swans will travel to us as we kick off the festive programme on Tuesday bank holiday after Christmas – and please note that Half Season Tickets will become valid for this fixture.

NB: tickets for this fixture (as well as our home games against QPR (Sat 14 Jan 2023) and Sheffield United (Sat 28 Jan 2023) will be released for sale on Monday 28 November 2022.

This is while we allow supporters the biggest range of seating options for Half Season Tickets, which are on sale now. Tickets for the Swansea City game were temporarily on sale previously, and all tickets bought during that period remain valid.

As a consequence of the televised game against Swansea, our home game against Norwich City – originally due to take place on Thursday 29 December – will now take place at Carrow Road on Friday 30 December 2022 (kick-off 7.45pm). This fixture has not been selected for featured TV coverage.

We held the high-flying Canaries to a creditable 1-1 draw at the Select Car Leasing Stadium earlier this month, and we’ll be looking to get more points on the board when we head to Norfolk in our final fixture of 2022.

Ticketing information for the trip will be arranged and announced in due course.

And finally, the knock-on effect of the previous two rearrangements means that our visit to West Bromwich Albion – previously due to happen on New Year’s Day – will now take place on Monday 2 January 2023 (kick-off 3pm). This has not been selected for featured TV coverage.

We’ve won on each of the last four occasions that we have kicked off a new calendar year with an away game – including a 2-1 win at Huddersfield behind closed doors in 2021, and a fantastic win in the capital as we triumphed 2-1 at Fulham in 2020. And we want the same kind of return from our visit to the Hawthorns in 2023.

Information about ticketing will be released in due course.
