Royals forward looks ahead to the Red Devils test
Manchester United’s visit to RG2 will be the second game against a side battling for those Champions League places.
After an impressive display against Tottenham last Sunday, where Reading held the North London side to a 0-0 draw, Emma Harries believes her side can build on their positive performance as they prepare to take on a United side who are currently sat third in the table.
“I think drawing against Tottenham, who are a top side, you have to take the positives from it.
“Obviously we were hoping for the three points, I think the girls did really well defensively to give us a clean sheet, so full credit to Grace and our defence. But of course, we rely on all eleven to work hard for one another in both attacking and defending.
“So overall, I think there were certainly positives to take from the game, but disappointed to not come away with more.
“Look Manchester United have been on top form recently, they do extremely well in all phases of play as they have quality throughout their team, so we know it’s going to be another tough match.
“It’s well discussed about the firepower they have up front, but we’ve shown we can give anyone a game on our day.
“Being back at the Select Car Leasing Stadium is always a welcomed boost going into these games, having the 12th man behind us in our home supporters, it kind of makes us all raise our games and I know we have the quality to give United a tough game.
“Like I mentioned, going into these games, we need every fan with us and behind us.
“We always seem to play better when we hear the fans, you just have to look back to our Chelsea win in December, then coming from behind to beat Birmingham a few weeks later, hearing their chants just gives you an extra energy boost.
“Hearing them just makes us want to win even more, so hopefully we can reflect that in our performance, as we always try so hard to put on a show for them – so roll on Saturday!”
