Introducing our away strip for the 2022-23 campaign…
Today we are delighted to reveal our official away kit for the 2022-23 season – and once again, creating conversations around climate change is at the heart of the design.
Our home shirt certainly got people talking. The stripes on our sleeves, which show the change in climate in Berkshire throughout our 151-year history, has attracted attention worldwide.
And our away strip puts our world’s changing temperature in focus. Inspired by the University of Reading-designed climate stripes for the Berkshire region, our away shirt boasts a monochrome design.
It's been pretty easy to describe our away kit colours in recent years: yellow, red, black, orange. But in the same way that our purple kit was in fact African violet, this pink kit is 'rose quartz', to be precise!
The lightest shades, near to the collar, represent cooler-than-average temperatures in our region a century and a half ago… and the darkest shades, towards the waist, reveal the rising temperatures in recent years.
And just like the home shirt, our new away shirt is made from Eco-Fabric – entirely manufactured from recycled plastic bottles: an innovation undertaken by our Official Technical Partner as part of their ‘Macron 4 The Planet’ campaign, which is committed to introducing new eco-sustainable products to the market.
We’re on the start of a journey. We can’t do everything, but we can’t do nothing.
As recently as last week, we announced a three-year partnership with Bracknell-based business Energy Efficient Solutions Group – who will help the club to install LED lighting across the Select Car Leasing Stadium site, with the goal of reducing energy usage from lighting by up to 80%. And alongside Principal Partner Select Car Leasing, we're well underway to installing EV charging points on site at the stadium.

It will be available to buy in-person at the Fanstore from Wednesday 17 August – the same day as our home encounter with Blackburn Rovers – and pre-orders placed in time are due to arrive on the same day. And we’ll see it in action for the first time when we travel to The Den to take on Millwall on Saturday 27 August!
