20-year-old centre-half Jeriel Dorsett has this afternoon completed the paperwork on a season-long loan move to Kilmarnock.

The Academy graduate made his first team debut as a late substitute for fellow youngster Andre Burley in an FA Cup win at Blackpool back in January 2020.

He then started his first game as a Royal in the same competition the following year – featuring in a 1-0 defeat at Luton Town.

Last season Dorsett earned regular first team football at Rochdale, making 42(+3) appearances on loan at Spotland in helping them to an 18th placed finish in League Two.

Now, Jeriel will begin a new challenge in Scotland.

Killie won the Scottish Championship title last season to earn promotion back to the top tier north of the border.

And Dorsett could make his debut for Derek McInnes’ men at Ibrox this weekend when his new loan side take on Rangers in the second game of their league campaign – a late Ash Taylor equaliser earned Kilmarnock a 1-1 draw at home to Dundee United on Saturday.

They then return to Rugby Park the following weekend to face the might of Celtic.

Everyone at Reading Football Club would like to wish Jeriel the very best of luck during his season on loan at Kilmarnock.

Meanwhile, 19-year-old full-back Imari Samuels has today joined Brighton & Hove Albion. The Royals will receive a compensation fee from the Premier League side after Samuels turned down the offer of a professional contract in RG2 this summer. Everyone at Reading would like to wish Imari the very best of luck on the south coast and in his future career.
