A look at how the latest international break panned out for the Royals away on duty

Back in Reading, we're almost ready for the return of club football as we prepare to host Barnsley, but during the break, we've had international interest as Baba Rahman, George Puscas and Jokull Andresson have all featured for their respective nations over the last fortnight.

Royals left-back Baba played 180 minutes of football as he helped his fellow Ghanaians to two important World Cup Qualifying wins in a double-header against Zimbabwe, as they continued their quest to make sure they, The Black Stars are involved in the action in Qatar next year.

The Chelsea-loanee played every minute of Ghana's first win over the Zimbabweans, as they saw off their visitors 3-1 last Saturday, thanks to goals from Arsenal's Thomas Partey, former-Swansea man Andre Ayew, and Mohammed Kudus.

He did the same again when the sides met in Zimbabwe on Tuesday, again he featured for the full affair, as Partey again came up with the goods to help Charles Akonoor's side to victory.

Ghana have two games to play in their 2022 WCQ qualifying campaign, and they currently sit second in Group G, a point behind leaders South Africa, who they'll face in November - a clash that could ultimately decide who tops the standings on matchday six.

Back in Europe, George Puscas registered his 24th senior international appearance for Romania, as he started up top in their World Cup qualifying clash with 2014 winners Germany.

The Royals striker came up against the likes of Marco Reus, Thomas Muller, Joshua Klimmich and Antonio Rudiger, playing 82 minutes of the Romanian's eventual 2-1 defeat to the Germans.

Like Rahman's Ghana, Puscas and Romania also have two qualifiers left contest, and they currently sit second in Group J, eight points behind Germany. Romania still need to take on Iceland and Liechenstein in November, with the hope of beating nearest challengers, North Macedonia to second spot.

Finally, there was a debut at U21 level for Jokull Andresson, who represented his native Iceland during their UEFA U21 Championship qualification tie with Portugal.

The stopper, who is spending the campaign on loan at League One side Morecambe, started between the sticks for Iceland, producing a number of key stops to limit the Portuguese to a single goal, which saw them run out narrow 1-0 winners.

Having made his bow at the highest point of international youth football, Jokull will no doubt hope to be involved again in November, when they face Liechenstein and Greece within the space of three days.
