18-year-old striker signs pro terms and goes out on loan to St Patrick’s Athletic

Reading Football Club are pleased to announce that 18-year-old striker Nahum Melvin-Lambert has put pen to paper on his first professional deal with the Royals, committing his future to the Royals in a deal which runs until the summer of 2022.

The young forward, who made his first team debut earlier this season, will now travel to Dublin to earn valuable experience in the League of Ireland’s Premier Division with St Patrick’s Athletic – the club where ex-Royals hero Kevin Doyle began his career.

Melvin-Lambert came off the bench in our Carabao Cup win over Colchester at the very start of this season and made two more appearances as a substitute in cup ties with Luton Town, both at home in September and at Kenilworth Road in January.

The Academy graduate has scored six times for our Under-23s so far this season and will now look to help St Patrick’s start their Premier Division campaign on the front foot when they travel to Shamrock Rovers for their season-opener next month.

The paperwork for the loan was all completed late this morning and, pending international clearance, our young striker will now stay at Richmond Park until June - playing alongside former Royals Academy graduate Shane Griffin at St Patrick’s.

Everyone at Reading Football Club would like to wish Nahum the very best of luck during his loan spell across the Irish Sea.
