We are very disappointed to announce that this weekend’s Barclays FA Women's Super League fixture between Reading Football Club and Manchester City has been suspended.
Following the return of a significant number of positive PCR tests within the Manchester City squad, both clubs and the FA have agreed that postponing this weekend's WSL fixture in Manchester is the safest option for both teams and sets of supporters.
In light of the increased rate of transmissions from the Omicron variant of COVID-19, the FA will review the circumstances surrounding the postponement and continue work with affected clubs to assist them throughout this challenging period. A rearranged date for the fixture will be announced in due course.
We apologise for any inconvenience this causes to supporters planning to attend this fixture. However, the health, safety and welfare of players, the coaching teams and club staff remains of paramount importance and we would like to wish all those affected a swift and full recovery.
We will update supporters on details of the rearranged fixture once a new date and kick-off time has been confirmed.
