Icelandic stopper set to stay with Grecians for two more games this week...

19-year-old stopper Jökull Andrésson will extend his emergency loan spell with Exeter City by a further week and, subject to EFL approval, could now feature in the FA Cup this weekend!

EFL regulations allow clubs to sign goalkeepers on emergency loans, in the event that all other professional goalkeepers are unavailable through injury, suspension or international call-up - and the Icelander joined the Grecians on a 7-day emergency loan spell last week.

With former Royals Academy graduate Lewis Ward suffering an ankle injury and City's other senior stopper Jonny Maxted sustaining a dislocated kneecap, Andrésson came straight in to start in a 1-1 draw with Leyton Orient at Brisbane Road last Tuesday night before keeping a clean sheet on his St James Park debut at the weekend - helping Exeter beat Carlisle United on Saturday.

Jökull has been named on the Royals’ first-team bench this season - for our Carabao Cup win against Colchester United on the opening day of the season. He has also represented our Under-23 side once this season in our 3-2 win against Leeds United at Bearwood.

Now he is expected to be the Devon side's last line of defence in an away fixture against Morecambe tomorrow night before entering the FA Cup as a Grecian when City host AFC Fylde in the First Round of the famous competition at the weekend.
