Icelander extends loan stint at St James Park
After successfully helping Exeter City to the Second Round of the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday, 19-year-old goalkeeper Jökull Andrésson has extended his loan spell with the Grecians for a further seven days.
Our Icelandic stopper joined the Devon club just in time to feature against Leyton Orient in League Two last month, owing to injuries to their senior stoppers Jon Maxted and Lewis Ward. The terms of the emergency loan allow the deal to be renewed on a week-by-week basis while the club’s other senior goalkeepers remain injured.
He has helped Exeter to draws against Orient and Morecambe, either side of a win and a clean sheet against Carlisle United.
And most recently, he produced some good stops to ensure that the Grecians overcame a plucky AFC Fylde outfit by a 2-1 scoreline, as they looked to take their impressive form from the National League North into their cup fixture. He and his teammates successfully stepped over the banana-skin.
Now Andrésson’s loan extension sees him through for another week, which covers their trip to Valley Parade next Saturday to take on Bradford City.
Good luck for another week as a Grecian, Jökull!
