Midfielder Laurent delighted at QPR win

“Over the moon,” said Josh Laurent, having played a key role in the Royals’ 1-0 away win at QPR. A Royals side depleted with injury went to West London and executed a great performance, and ultimately won thanks to a late Michael Olise goal.

“I think it’s one of our best away performances of the season. We were very solid, very strong, very hard to beat. We knew that it we were patient, it would come.

“We were threatening all game on the counter, and the game-plan worked perfectly. I’m just delighted at the three points.

“It shows how good our management team is and how good our squad is. Everyone is ready and raring to go, everyone wants to play and it shows that there is strength in depth. The players who came in today were unreal so it’s a good day all round.

“If we keep a clean sheet and stay solid, we’ve got players all over the pitch that can win us a game. And you’ve seen that with Michael. He pulled out something special to win it – he’s a special talent. He’s still young and has a lot to learn… but I love playing with him. He’s a great kid and I’m glad he delivered for the team.

“Football can swing quickly. You can’t get too high or too low. But midweek did hurt against Birmingham… but that’s good: it’s got to hurt. We came out and put a performance like that in.

“Previously we’ve lost games and dipped and went on a losing run. Today we bounced back straight away. Hopefully we can go on another good run again.”
