Reading facing Mourinho’s men in North London
The Royals’ preparations for the 2020-21 campaign will include a stern challenge in the form of a visit to Tottenham Hotspur on Friday 28th August.
Kicking off at 3pm and taking place behind closed doors, Mark Bowen’s men will take on José Mourinho’s side in a prestigious pre-season fixture at the newly constructed Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Our Sky Bet Championship season and Spurs’ latest campaign in the Premier League are each set to begin on Saturday 12th September… both managers will be looking to take training ground preparation and put it into practice in this friendly game, as well as getting game-time into the legs.
We will also be preparing for our 2020-21 kick-off in the form of a Carabao Cup game, before our league fixtures begin; Spurs meanwhile will start their Europa League qualifying campaign during the first week of the new season.
It’s set to be our first visit to Tottenham in any capacity since New Year’s Day 2013 – when an early Pavel Pogrebnyak goal for the Royals was quickly cancelled out by Michael Dawson, and Spurs ultimately took the Premier League points as Emmanuel Adebayor and Clint Dempsey each netted after the break.
Indeed, we never quite managed to get a win at White Hart Lane in any of our nine competitive visits there… perhaps we can go one better on our first trip to their new ground?
Although the game is taking place behind closed doors, that doesn't mean you have to miss out on the action. We will be bringing you live updates and images throughout the game through our social media channels, a report and interviews after the game and highlights of the action... plenty of coverage to keep you close to the Royals, even though we're still socially distancing!
Information about the Royals’ other friendly fixtures will be announced in due course. We will also announce the date of Fixture Release Day and the Carabao Cup First Round draw as soon as they are confirmed by the EFL.
