Madejski Stadium to stage pre-season friendly match this weekend as Steve Evans' side visit RG2 on Saturday...
Madejski Stadium will stage a pre-season friendly against League One Gillingham this weekend as Mark Bowen's men ramp up their preparations for 2020-21 with the first competitive warm-up match.
The match is scheduled for this weekend, kicking off at 1.30pm on Saturday at Madejski Stadium - just three weeks before our Championship campaign kicks off.
The game this weekend will come six days before a trip to North London and a friendly encounter with Jose Mourinho's Spurs.
We last met Gillingham in Carabao Cup action in 2017 - a Liam Kelly brace earning the Royals victory at Madejski Stadium that evening.
Last season, the Kent-based side finished 10th in League One - nine points adrift of the play-off places when the pandemic forced an early end to proceedings in the third tier.
The match will be played behind closed doors unfortunately. However, we will aim to provide a live stream of the friendly, free of charge, to all supporters via our official YouTube channel this weekend.
And we’ll naturally provide Royals fans with regular updates on the day of the game, via social media updates on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram as well as images from our pre-season opener.
With two pre-season games now confirmed and a Carabao Cup clash against Colchester United in the diary, the season is beginning to take shape. And on Friday, we will be able to announce our full set of league fixtures for 2020-21.
Come on URRRZZZ!
