Bio

Jacqueline Burns, an international goalkeeper from Northern Ireland, made her way to Reading after a remarkable UEFA EURO 2022 campaign with her national team.

Jacqueline's football journey commenced at Mid-Ulster in Cookstown, Northern Ireland. Her career then took her across the Atlantic to the USA in 2015, where she played for the Carson-Newman Eagles at the college level, amassing 66 appearances in three years. After her American stint, Burns ventured to Icelandic side ÍBV in 2019. She later returned to Northern Ireland, featuring for Glentoran for two years, before joining Swedish side Bollklubben Häcken Fotbollförening.

Since her debut for the Northern Ireland senior team nine years ago, Jacqueline Burns has earned 39 caps, including participation in the qualifying campaign for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Despite making 12 appearances last season for Reading in the WSL, her campaign was cut short due to an Achilles injury. Before her injury, Burns was part of Northern Ireland's quest to qualify for the 2023 World Cup, contributing to a 3-1 win over Latvia. While Northern Ireland narrowly missed out on qualification, Jacqui's last national team appearance in November 2022 saw her keep a clean sheet against Italy in a 1-0 win.
