Bio
Icelandic goalkeeper Jokull Andresson followed in his older brother’s footsteps when he added his name to the professional ranks at Reading, signing a contract with the Royals when he turned 17 in August 2018.
The 6'4" stopper got his first taste of competitive football at Hungerford Town on loan during the first half of the 2018-19 season, making his debut for the Crusaders in their National League South opener against St Albans.
Returning to Reading, he featured heavily for both our U18s and U23s during the latter half of 2018-19 and helped his side to the Premier League 2 play-offs.
During the 2020-21 season, Andrésson was given his chance to gain Football League experience., initially with four weeks-worth of emergency loan at League Two side, Exeter City.
When his time at St James Park came to an end, the Icelandic stopper was then snapped up by Morecambe in a similar week-long deal – where again he impressed.
Having proved key to both the Shrimps and the Grecians with clean sheets in a number of wins, the latter moved quickly to secure his services on a longer-term loan deal until the end of season. Nicknamed the ‘Iceman’ – he kept an impressive 12 clean sheets in 33 appearances for the Devon side.
He returned to the Lancashire coast for the first part of 2021-22 and featured 17 times as the Shrimps spent their first ever season in League One, with Jokull keeping a clean sheet in a famous win over Sheffield Wednesday.
It also proved to be a signifcant season on the international stage as he made his senior debut for Iceland against Uganda in January 2022.
Jokull joined Exeter City for a third time - in an emergency loan spell in January 2023. Recalled after playing one match for The Grecians, he was then loaned to League Two Stevenage, making three appearances before suffering an arm injury that saw him recalled.
The 2023-24 saw Andresson extend his deal with the Royals, before heading out on loan to fellow League One outfit Carlisle United.
