Bio
Alex Rae joined Paul Ince in the Royals dugout for our meeting with Birmingham City at the Select Car Leasing Stadium in February 2022, initially arriving to take an interim coaching role with the Royals.
The former Dundee and St. Mirren manager was well known to then Interim Manager Ince, after they played together in midfield for Wolves from 2002 to 2004. This also wasn’t the first time Ince and Rae had worked together as management staff either, Rae assisted the former-England captain during his time as boss of Blackpool during the 2013-14 season and also worked with Ince at MK Dons.
As a player, Rae racked up 682 appearances during a career spanning 23 years. A Scottish Premier League winner in 2005, he was also twice promoted to the Premier League with Sunderland and Wolves so Rae brings plenty of pedigree.
After helping the Royals secure some big wins in the run in and with Championship football secured for 2022-23. Ahead of that season Rae followed Ince in signing a one year rolling contract to ensure he will be by the manager’s side once again.
