Bio
It was a whirlwind summer in 2023 for Vickers, who has been at the club for ten years.
The striker signed his first professional deal with the club at the start of July, having proved profilic at Under-18 level, before flying out to Alicante with the first team for the pre-season training camp.
He impressed new manager Rubén Sellés so much that he went straight into the first-team squad, forgoing the Under-21s.
Vickers featured in several of the pre-season matches, and made his debut off the bench in the League One opener at home to Peterborough United in early August.
He started the next game away to Millwall in the Carabao Cup, and proved a real handful, being involved in several of the goals in a memorable 4-0 away win.
This saw him earn a starting berth in the first-team, and after going agonisingly close on several occasions, he scored his first professional goal to complete a comeback victory at home to Bolton Wanderers in mid-September.
Vickers was on the scoresheet again just three days later, grabbing the Royals' eighth in the historic 9-0 win at Exeter City.
