'Tiny Keeper' book launch and meet & greet event
Reading take on Peterborough United in Sky Bet League One this coming Saturday, and on the day of the game the club are delighted to host a special event to launch the biography of club legend Steve Death.
Alan Hester's 'Tiny Keeper' profiles the extraordinary story of Death, once the shortest goalkeeper in the Football League – at just 5ft 7in. He was good enough to keep Peter Shilton out of the England Schoolboys side, yet spent his career in Divisions Three and Four and became a lower-league legend. The book is based on extensive interviews with more than twenty of his former teammates, journalists, fans and his daughter.
At the Atrium Bar of the Voco Hotel from 1.30pm and post-match, supporters will have the opportunity to meet an array of players who donned the blue and white hoops alongside Death, including Les Chappell, Martin Hicks, Steve Hetzke, Bobby Williams, Mark White, Wayne Wanklyn, Stuart Morgan and Tommy Youlden.
The event is free to attend, with the players in attendance available to sign copies of the book alongside the author Alan Hester himself - supporters will also be able to purchase a copy of the book on the day.
If you'd like to pick-up your copy ahead of the game, you can do so with next day delivery via Amazon on the link below.
