Derby encounter delayed due to national team selections

We can confirm that our home fixture against Oxford United, originally scheduled for Saturday 14 October, has been postponed due to international call-ups.

When we host the U’s, it’ll be the first time welcoming our opponents for a league fixture since October 2000 – when a late Tony Rougier brace completed a fightback, claiming a 4-3 win!

But we will have to wait a little longer before hosting Oxford for this derby day fixture, owing to a number of players receiving call-ups for their national sides. As usual, we will provide a full round-up of our international players’ selections, their opposition, and what’s at stake in due course.

We will also announce the rearranged date for this fixture once it has been agreed and confirmed between both clubs and the EFL.

Separately, please also be aware that the weekend of Saturday 14 October is the date of the Emirates FA Cup fourth round qualifying, and the draw for the first round – where the Royals will enter the competition – is currently due to take place on Monday 16 October.

First round ties will take place on the weekend of Saturday 4 November.
