19-year-old midfielder Jack Senga has put pen to paper on a loan move to Ayr United which will see him compete in the Scottish Championship until January 2024.

A promising central midfielder, Senga has come right through the Royals’ Academy ranks from the very beginning – joining the club as an Under-9 and going on to sign his first professional deal with the club in March 2022.

Having featured in the first team squad on a number of occasions, Senga was handed his first team debut when he came off the bench at Huddersfield Town on the last day of our 2022-23 campaign, replacing Cesare Casadei for the last 20 minutes at the John Smith’s Stadium to become the 77th Academy graduate to break into our first team.

Ruben Selles gave Senga his full debut this week, starting him against Ipswich Town in our Carabao Cup Second Round clash at home to the Tractorboys on Tuesday night.

Now Senga will seek regular first team football north of the border in a deal which is set to expire on Sunday 21st January 2024.

Lee Bullen’s men began the 2023-24 campaign with League Cup wins over Stenhousemuir, St Johnstone and a 6-0 victory against Alloa and beat Inverness Caledonian Thistle to bounce back from an opening day league loss at Morton.

Senga could be eligible to make his debut for Ayr at Arbroath this weekend before a potential Somerset Park bow against Falkirk in the cup on Tuesday.

We would like to wish Jack the very best of luck during his time in Scotland and look forward to him returning to the Royals with valuable first team football experience added to his footballing CV.
