This season is coming to its conclusion, but we wanted to use our last home fixture of the season as an opportunity - in front of a sell-out home crowd - to celebrate the achievements of the next generation at Reading Football Club.
To date, our Academy has produced a total five players who have won our Player of the Season award during the last 13 years and it has also earned the club some of the highest transfer fees ever received for a Royals player.
We are proud of what our Academy represents as part of our club, we are proud of what it produces for our first team and we are proud of the part it players in the development of young, aspiring footballers and within our local grassroots community.
Our Under-12s formed a Guard of Honour for the first team players at the weekend, waving flags as the two teams emerged from the tunnel.
But before that, our fans came together as one to welcome onto the pitch some of the aspiring young stars of our future in the form of our Under-15s, our Under-14s, our Under-13s, our Under-11s, our Under-10s and last, but not least, our Under-9s.
Thank you for giving these young players a great reception and a taste of what it might be like to play on the hallowed turf as a first team footballer. And take a look at the gallery above and see if you can spot some of the stars of the future!
