We can confirm that Romanian international George Puscas has completed a permanent transfer to his loan side Genoa for an undisclosed fee which will now be payable to the club in instalments.

Puscas spent last season on loan at the oldest club in Italy and, as part of his loan agreement, a permanent move to Genoa was triggered upon promotion to Serie A this season.

Puscas made 10(+15) appearances during his season-long spell at Stadio Luigi Ferraris, scoring four goals in total as Genoa sealed automatic promotion with a 2-1 home win over Ascoli last month.

As a Royal, Puscas scored 20 goals in 91 appearances since arriving in RG2 in the summer of 2019. He spent the second half of the 2021-22 season on loan with Pisa before agreeing to a season-long stay in Serie B in the summer.

After sealing promotion, the 27-year-old came off the bench in both Genoa’s final two fixtures of the second tier season – a defeat away at Serie B champions Frosinone and then a 4-3 home win over third-placed Bari – and he will now put pen to paper on permanent terms.

Everyone at Reading Football Club would like to congratulate George on his promotion-winning season in Italy, thank him for his contribution to the club and wish him the very best of luck for the future.
