Trip to Brighton U21 for place in quarters

Reading have been drawn away to Brighton & Hove Albion U21 in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy Round of 16.

The draw was made live on Sky Sports, with the Royals set to face the Seagulls in the week commencing Monday 8 January.

Brighton U21 reached the Round of 16 with an emphatic away victory over Milton Keynes Dons, after finishing runners up in Group I.

Reading required penalties to reach this stage against Charlton Athletic. The Royals scored all four whilst Joel Pereira saved the Addicks' first effort, and Louie Watson smashed his effort against the crossbar to send the Royals through.

The Trophy campaign has certainly been one to remember so far for the Royals. The Group Stages saw 19 goals scored and just conceded three as the team picked up three wins from three games.

With his three goals and two assists, Paul Mukairu was named Player of the Round.

The Seagulls currently sit sixth in the Premier League 2 table.

The draw for the tournament remains regionalised for this round, and will do for the quarter-finals also.
