Ahead of our first game of the 2022/23 Barclays FA Women’s Super League against Liverpool at the Select Car Leasing Stadium, we can now announce who will lead the side out.
Emma Mukandi, formerly Mitchell, will wear the armband after recently signing a new deal with the Royals ahead of the new campaign.
Mukandi has been with the Royals since July 2020 and is an experienced leader on and off the pitch.

Having made 17 competitive appearances to date, Mukandi will be looking to build on that number as we face the task of a new season.
The Scottish international has won over 60 caps for her national team and boasts years of WSL experience having previously had a seven-year spell with Arsenal and a year-long spell with Tottenham Hotspur.
Mukandi knows what it takes to be a part of a winning team having previously won four league titles and five domestic cups with Glasgow City as well as one WSL title and five domestic cups for Arsenal.
On being given the armband, the Royals defender had this to say;
"It’s an honor to have asked to be captain of the team.
"Having just returned from having a baby, I was of course shocked when Kelly [Chambers] sat me down to give me the news, but to be asked by the coaches means they've clearly seen something in me that they trust to do the job and lead the team out.
"We've got a great bunch of girls here, and we will all have an important role to play throughout the season, and I can't wait to walk out on Sunday infront of our fans."
