The Big Bad Wolf was back! Flying in from Miami, Jason Roberts was welcomed with opened arms by starry-eyed Royals fans who rightly remembered the impact he made when arriving into Brian McDermott’s promotion-chasing team half way through an unforgettable 2011-12 campaign.

“It was an absolute pleasure to be out on the pitch, to see the crowds and to be able to play against the great 106 team – it has been an absolute honour to be part of it,” Roberts beamed.

“I want to commend the club, and everyone involved…everyone who has put this together.

“I’ve played for a few different clubs in my career and I was lucky enough to achieve a few things, but nothing has been as well recognised as this was.

“And I think a day like Saturday shows everyone what a special club this is.

“There was no doubt I was going to score today. I wasn’t coming off ‘til I did. I was lucky enough to get one at the start and one near the end.

“But I’m so pleased that the achievements of both teams have been recognised in this way.

“This is a special club that has produced some special teams. And I feel privileged to have been a small part of it.”
