Reading Football Club are very pleased to announce that centre-back Scott Dann has put pen to paper on a contract which keeps him in RG2 until the summer of 2023.

The former Birmingham City, Blackburn Rovers and Crystal Palace defender has signed a new one-year deal at Reading, having scored twice in 15 appearances made since joining the Royals at the end of August.

With nearly 250 Premier League appearances to his name, the 35-year-old centre-back has added a calm, composed presence and vast experience to our back line this season.

Dann made his Royals bow as a second half substitute at Derby and Cardiff – helping the defence keep the opposition out at both Pride Park and the Cardiff City Stadium.

And he kept a clean sheet in his first start for the Royals, earning a 1-0 home win over Barnsley in mid-October.

Four days later he opened his account at the other end, heading home against Blackpool at the Select Car Leasing Stadium. And he doubled his Reading account when he mustered an equaliser at home to Nottingham Forest in November.

Now, the Royals have secured the centre-back’s services for another season!
