Second-half comeback sets new club record!
It took a dramatic comeback from the Royals to extend their winning run to four in the league, and an impressive unbeaten run to seven, after going two goals down to Birmingham City at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.
The visitors took an early lead thanks to a Lawley header, with Pennock making it two towards the end of the first half. Following the Blues' second, there was a long pause in play as Royals keeper, Grace Moloney, had to be taken off to hospital after suffering a heavy blow.
Royals certainly took advantage of the pause in play, as straight from kick-off, they won themselves a free-kick inside Birmingham's half and Woodham's fantastic delivery found Vanhaevermaet rising highest to give Reading a lifeline before the break - and getting her first goal for the club.
Reading started the second half as they ended the first, high intensity, greater determination, resulting in winning an early penalty thanks to Harries who did superbly to cut inside the defender and was brought down in the box. Following the disappointment after missing from the spot in the Leicester game, Dowie showed greater mental strength to step up once again, and this time making no mistake in the finish...GAME ON!
It didn't take long for the Royals to find a third, which turned out to be the winning goal, after a fine team move. The move started after Vanhaevermaet's high press turned possession over, and picked out Rose's fine run down the left-hand side. Rose showed some clever footwork, darting one way then the other, and found Harries at the back post who executed a volley worth winning any game.
