The anniversary activities we have planned for our 150^th celebration this Saturday

150 years since our first competitive fixture. And 150 years later, we’re pulling out all the stops to try to make this a match Reading fans past, present and future will want to remember.

The matchday machine will start whirring at the Select Car Leasing Stadium early in the morning but some of the first fans we’ll welcome onto the site will be those who won an exclusive training session in The Dome and the neighbouring 4G pitch. As participants in the club’s schools and grassroots ticketing scheme for this game, Theale Tigers will receive some football experience from our Community Trust outside, while pupils from Hawkedon Primary and Francis Bailey Primary will have the indoor pitch all to themselves on Saturday!

From 12.30pm, the Fan Zone will open with refreshments available to all home and away fans and Manchester United’s encounter with Southampton is due to be shown live on the big screen.

Meanwhile, in the Fun Zone outside the Eamonn Dolan Stand, the speed cage will be busy with so many fans of the future heading to the Select Car Leasing Stadium. And our Community Trust will be opening the doors to the Kids Activity Cabin.

If you are Young Royal, that’s where you should pay a visit to collect a FREE signed 2022 calendar, exclusive for Young Royals who bring their ID card /lanyard to the Activity Cabin this weekend.

It’s our anniversary. So we’ve ordered the entertainment. A steel band will perform in the Fan Zone and then on the pitch prior to kick off, The Salvation Army band will also be striking up from 1.30pm and we have all the fun of the fairground with dodgems and a Waltzer open to supporters from 12.30pm up until kick-off, at half-time and for up to an hour after the final whistle.
