“It feels great to be home”
Reading FC Women are delighted to announce the return of former Royal Becky Jane from Charlton Athletic on a one-year deal.
The 30-year-old fullback re-signs for the club three years after leaving the Royals for Liverpool back in 2019. She becomes the second name through the door after Brooke Hendrix signed on the dotted line at the end of July.

Jane first joined Reading in 2011 signing from Chelsea and was an integral member of the squad that saw the Royals gain promotion to the ‘WSL 1’ as it were back in 2015, making 23 appearances and scoring twice that season. Becky was rewarded with a professional deal by the club heading into their first season in the WSL 1.
Jane went onto make 15 appearances that year as the club finished 8th. In 2016 Jane was named Supporters Player of the Season and was rewarded for her performances the following year as she signed a new two-year contract at the club.
Becky left Berkshire in June 2019 signing for Merseyside outfit Liverpool where she went on to make 28 appearances in her two-year stint. She now re-joins the Royals after making 5 appearances for FA Women’s Championship side Charlton Athletic in the 2021/22 season where the Addicks finished 5th.
Having made 135 appearances and scoring 22 goals for the Royals already, Jane boasts a plethora of experience in and around the Barclays Women’s Super League and is a familiar face joining up with Kelly Chambers’ side heading into the start of the 2022/23 season.

Becky reflected on her time with the Royals and spoke about how she’s happy to be back and how it “feels like being home.”
“The guys have been really welcoming, a lot of the same staff that were here when I was here. It’s been a comfortable environment to come back into and one that I'm really enjoying.
“The coaching and the quality of coaching is fantastic. It's the best that I've ever had. I knew that coming back in that was always going to be a big factor of it.
"I know my role is slightly different this time around, but I'm relishing to opportunity to come back in, to be a part of the squad and to help the younger ones come through. That's a massive thing for me.”

Kelly Chambers was full of praise for the return of a Royals legend, highlighting the influence she will bring both on and off the pitch, whilst also providing good depth to the team which was a key area to address.
"For us we wanted to build more of a squad this season, and with the experience Becky offers us, it will be a huge boost.
"When I had the conversation with her, it was clear to me she still has the desire to win and feature in as many games as if it was back in 2012. It will also bring a competition for places which helps everyone raise their game and also our performances, as at times I think we struggled physically with tight schedules.
"Knowing the club inside and out as Becky does, she's been able to throw herself in, so we don't have that period of adjustment. She knows how I and all the coaches like to work, and she'll no doubt be a huge influence on the younger players coming through.
"So I'm thrilled to welcome her back."
