Young forward set to make move to join the Hammers

Reading Football Club can confirm that 19-year-old forward Thierry Nevers is set to sign for Premier League outfit West Ham United for an undisclosed fee when the transfer window reopens on Wednesday 9th June.

A product of our Academy system, Nevers signed his first professional contract as a Royal in January 2020 but, although being named as part of the first team squad that travelled to Plymouth Argyle in the Carabao Cup earlier that season, he has not represented the senior side at Reading.

Thierry has endured an injury-hit season in 2020-21, returning from a year-long absence in January to make just nine appearances for our Under-23s - scoring three times in wins over Aston Villa and Newcastle United and most recently a home defeat to Norwich City in March.

A clause in Nevers’ contract was triggered this summer, extending his deal with the Royals until the summer of 2022, however he will make the move to East London next month after a fee was agreed between the clubs.

We would like to wish Thierry the very best of luck in his future career.
