An opportunity to join the pathway to go pro
The Regional Talent Club (girls academy) for Reading FC Women has opened its trial applications ahead of the 2021-22 season.
Regional Talent Clubs (RTC) are the highest level of youth girls’ football in the country for players under the age of 16. Our RTC links directly into our Women’s Super League Academy side, which is a full-time programme run from the John Madejski Academy. Together, these two programmes form our youth pathway through to our fully professional Women’s Super League team.
Applications for the following age bands are being reviewed:
- U12s (two-year band; born September 1st 2009 - August 31st 2011)
- U13s (born September 1st 2008 - August 31st 2009)
- U14s (born September 1st 2007 - August 31st 2008)
- U16s (two-year band; born September 1st 2005 - August 31st 2007)
Trial applications will close at midnight on Friday 21st May. Please note, to be eligible for our RTC you will need to live within 90 minutes commuting time of Madejski Stadium (RG2 0FL). All trials will take place in June.
Our RTC’s U12 and U13 age groups will participate in a local charter standard mixed youth league, whereas the U14 and U16 age groups play in an FA organised competitive fixture programme. The U16s also participate in the FA Girls’ Youth Cup and FA Girls’ Youth Plate.
Our RTC/girls academy has produced first team players Grace Moloney, Emma Harries and Bethan Roberts, as well as fellow Women’s Super League players Fran Kirby (Chelsea) and Harriet Scott (Birmingham City).
