Striker adds another year with Royals

Reading FC Women are delighted to confirm that striker Brooke Chaplen has signed a contract extension that sees her remain a Royal until June 2022.

Chaplen signed with Kelly Chambers’ Royals from Sunderland in 2017 and became the side’s top goalscorer that season. Chaplen has previously played for Portsmouth, Chelsea and Everton at club level and is capped for England at Under 19, 20 and 23’s.

A proven goalscorer in previous seasons, Chaplen has unfortunately missed a large portion of the 2020-21 campaign through illness, but has still contributed, most notably with a goal against Tottenham back in November.

Manager Kelly Chambers said, “I am very excited to keep Brooke at Reading. Brooke has had a huge impact at the club, and she has been truly missed on the pitch this season. Brooke is a player that has a clear understanding of the way we play and that has shown in her previous season records.

It’s been an extremely frustrating season for Brooke, but she is working really hard to return and is doing really well, I can’t wait to have her back.”

Reading FC Women would like to thank Brooke for her dedication, hard work and look forward to her return to action.
